Open-Cell Vs. Closed-Cell Insulation: What’s the difference?
Great care should be taken when determining the right type of spray foam, depending on the intended use. There are two main types, which are open cell and closed cell.
Open Cell Spray Foam, as the name implies, contains cells that are not completely closed on application. This allows air to fill the cells and works to create an excellent air barrier.
Closed Cell Spray Foam, contains cells that are completely closed. This makes closed cell foam a stronger material. It’s rigid composition makes it a great choice for areas that are exposed to moisture.
